Enlarged sella turcica

Case contributed by Dr Ian Bickle

Know case of pituitary tumour with hydrocephalus. VP shunt.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male

Marked enlargement of the sella turcica with some erosion of its inferior aspect.

VP shunt in situ.

Case Discussion

Lateral skull films are infrequently performed with such readily available CT imaging. They may still be performed as part of a VP shunt series.

In this case an enlarged sella turcica is well illustrated, in this case from a pituitary tumour.
